Minters Partner & Olympian Joins EY Law In Race To Grow Firm

EY Law has increased its Auckland-based legal team with the recruitment of former MinterEllisonRuddWatts partner Cameron Taylor.

Taylor, a former Olympian has joined EY Law who are focused on expanding ‘their footprint’ in the New Zealand legal market.

As well as the recruitment of Taylor, EY Law have also made Brendon Prebble, also a former Minters lawyer, as an associate partner.

The moves reflect the aggressive growth of EY Law that we have previously reported.  Taylor is to lead the firm’s corporate law team.  His previous experience in London and New York, which saw him serve seven years with Big Law heavyweight Cravath Swaine & Moore,  has seen him handle a range of M&A, capital raises, IPOs and other corporate law work.

He also had a successful athletic careers, having  competed at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, IAAF World Track & Field Championships, NCAA Championships and IAAF World Junior Championships.

He is currently Chair of the Board of Athletics in NZ as well as previously being on the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce.  He was also a director of Minter’s AI legaltech firm McCarthy Finch.

EY Law have offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and has had a strong focus on tax issues (lead partner in New Zealand is tax lawyer Tori Sullivan) and as a branch of the Big Four accounting giant intend continuing to expand the legal services and law-related services into the mainstream corporate world.
