New York — September 28, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Chadbourne & Parke LLP announced today that $70,000 from the Chadbourne & Parke Foundation will be distributed to five charitable groups providing aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina. Earlier this month, the Firm announced that it had established a charitable contribution program to match individual donations contributed by Firm personnel to the Chadbourne & Parke Foundation for Hurricane Katrina Relief, up to a total of $100,000 for all donations firm-wide.

The groups are:

$20,000 to the Habitat for Humanity’s “Make a Difference Today” project in which several homes for Gulf Coast families are being constructed at Rockefeller Plaza during the week of September 26-30, 2005. Chadbourne has 54 volunteers working on the project throughout the week. The Firm has also made available conference rooms, telephones and computer hookups for Habitat for Humanity’s operations center for the project.
$20,000 to New York Disaster Interfaith Services to help purchase clothes and school supplies for 3,000 evacuees now living in New York.
$10,000 to America’s Second Harvest to help support disaster relief and recovery activities and assist its food banks in providing food to the people who need it the most.
$10,000 to Katy Christian Ministries in Katy, Texas, (part of Houston) where churches are being used as shelters for evacuees. The Firm has previously collected and sent blankets, clothing and personal hygiene supplies to churches in Katy.
$10,000 to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and the Greater New Orleans Foundation, which are arranging for grants to community organizations in the areas hit by the hurricane.
“Hurricane Katrina has deeply impacted many families and individuals in the Gulf Coast region and the Firm is pleased to be able to contribute to those charities, which are supporting the victims,” said Chadbourne & Parke Managing Partner Charles K. O’Neill. “Additionally, with the “Make a Difference Today” project taking place right outside our door, I am pleased that many of our personnel have become volunteers and donated their time around the clock to assist Habitat for Humanity with constructing homes.”

The Firm’s Charitable Contribution Advisory Committee, which comprises Firm staff and legal personnel, makes commendations to the Chadbourne & Parke Foundation Directors as to specific charities which their research shows are likely to continue to be the most effective in the long-term relief effort.
