PHOENIX – LAWFUEL – Dr. Ronald McInnes, 47, of Phoenix, was sentenced on January 8, 2007 to two years probation and 180 days of home confinement with a provision for work release by Judge James A. Teilborg. McInnes pleaded guilty in October 2006 to charges of filing a false tax return. McInnes also
was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.

McInnes previously admitted that around March 17, 2000 he signed his name to a 1999 Form 1040 tax return which contained false information on the Schedule C. McInnes admitted that he had reported his gross receipts or sales from his dental practice, McInnes Family Dentistry, as $ 613,525.00, when he knew the true gross receipts were in fact $ 873,332.00.

McInnes also admitted he had filed this false return with the Internal Revenue Service, reducing
his tax liability from approximately $ 144,000 to about $ 51,000.
McInnes made restitution to the United States Treasury in the amount of $ 458,637.92.

This sum represents interest and fraud penalties and a tax loss in 1999 of $ 134,942 and $ 234,574 in the year 2000.

The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by special agents of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation. The prosecution was handled by Michelle Hamilton-
Burns, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona.
