One of only 50 Law Firms in the United States to be Selected
RICHMOND, Va. – LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – McGuireWoods LLP was named a “2007 Working Mother & Flex Time Lawyers Best Law Firms for Women.” The inaugural list honors the 50 winning law firms for their commitment to the retention and advancement of female talent, which was published in the August/September issue of Working Mother magazine, a popular magazine for career mothers.
Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, a national consulting firm advising attorneys and legal employers on work-life balance and the retention and advancement of women, partnered with Working Mother to survey law firms and select the 50 best. To apply for “Best Law Firms for Women,” McGuireWoods provided detailed information on issues that are most important to the retention and promotion of women lawyers in six measured areas: workforce profile; benefits and compensation; parental leave; childcare; flexibility; and retention and advancement of women.

This year, as part of its commitment to women lawyers, McGuireWoods announced two new policies to support them. The firm now offers one of the most flexible parental leave policies in the legal community, in which associates are able to take up to one year off and return at their same level and pay. The law firm also rolled out a new part-time policy, in which a lawyer can work a reduced schedule of up to 60 percent of a full-time work schedule, while remaining on her partnership track.
