They join the firm from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where their practice concentrated on civil antitrust litigation, antitrust merger clearance, and agency antitrust investigations.

Jacobson has served as primary counsel for his clients on a wide variety of antitrust matters and has handled many of the most important antitrust cases in the nation over the last several years. Among others, he defended Coca-Cola in PepsiCo v. Coca-Cola, one of the country’s leading Sherman Act “exclusive dealing” cases, and represented American Express as the central third-party amicus curiae in United States v. Visa USA. Recognized as a leading antitrust scholar and practitioner, Jacobson was appointed by Congress in 2002 to serve on the Antitrust Modernization Commission, which is dedicated to updating the nation’s antitrust laws. He is the editorial chair of the American Bar Association’s well-regarded treatise Antitrust Law Developments and frequently writes and speaks on a gamut of antitrust topics. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School in 1976, and earned his A.B. from Columbia College in 1973.
Before joining Akin Gump as a partner in 1998, Biggio was the acting deputy assistant attorney general for merger enforcement at the Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice. During his tenure at the Antitrust Division, he was responsible for formulating and implementing merger enforcement policy. Biggio’s private practice has encompassed a wide range of antitrust legal matters, including advising clients during mergers and acquisitions and the formation of joint venture and IP agreements. In particular, he has extensive experience representing clients in mergers and acquisition matters before the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission. Biggio earned his J.D, with honors, from the Fordham University School of Law in 1985; he graduated from Brown University in 1980 with an A.B. in history and economics.
