Philadelphia, Pa. – June 1, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Pepper Hamilton LLP’s Commercial Litigation Report and Pro Bono News have been honored with the Burton Award for Best Law Firm Newsletters, awarded by the Burton Foundation.

The Burton Awards (www.burtonawards.com) were established in 1999 by the nonprofit Burton Foundation to recognize outstanding legal writing. The program honors partners in law firms and law school students who use plain, clear and concise language and avoid archaic, stilted legalese. In conjunction with the Association of Legal Administrators, the program was extended to recognize excellence in law firm newsletters.

“We are extremely proud of this achievement,” said Robert E. Heideck, Pepper’s executive partner. “While a number of lawyers contributed articles to the newsletters, four people in particular deserve recognition: Jim Austin, our director of publications, who edits and oversees the production of all of our newsletters and other publications; Nicole Sparks Watts, our publications coordinator; Steve Harvey, a partner who spearheads our commercial litigation newsletter; and Joe Sullivan, our director of pro bono programs.”

The Burton Awards will be presented at a gala reception and dinner in the Great Hall of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., on Monday, June 6, 2005.
