Sources within the legal recruitment sector reveal to the AFR that prestigious firms including Allens, Ashurst, Gilbert + Tobin, Herbert Smith Freehills, and King & Wood Mallesons are now matching these premium pay packages for their top performers. Corrs Chambers Westgarth has pushed the envelope even further, with some partners reportedly earning up to $7 million annually. As with the competition from US law firms in the London market, which LawFuel has regularly reported , the emergence of U.S. legal powerhouses such as White & Case and Jones Day in the Australian market has fundamentally altered the compensation landscape, forcing established firms to reassess their traditional remuneration structures.
