Glasgow – 2 September – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary (“DLA Piper”) has appointed Barry McKeown as a partner in its real estate practice.
He joins from McGrigors where he spent seven years, latterly as a director. At DLA Piper, Barry will concentrate on indigenous Scottish developer and housebuilder clients, complementing the work currently being done by partners Graeme Sunter, Anne McGregor and Sandy Telfer.
Barry specialises in acquisition and development work for both commercial and residential developers, leasing, finance and property joint ventures as well as general real estate work; his clients include Akeler Group, Manorlane, Lynnet Leisure Group, Brandon Homes and Express Park Developments.
Recent clients that Barry has acted for include Scottish Mutual Assurance on the development and letting of its flagship Glasgow development at 123 St Vincent Street. This development set new levels of rent for Glasgow office accommodation. Barry also acted and continues to act for Akeler in both their joint venture with Scottish Enterprise at Hamilton International technology Park and their development of Central Quay in Glasgow. During his time at McGrigors Barry was also a key member of the team acting for Glasgow Harbour Limited in the £500m scheme to redevelop the land surrounding the River Clyde, including residential, retail/leisure and office elements.
