Australian industry leaders pay it forward at Tech Central’s Scaleup Hub, driving growth and innovation

SYDNEY, 15 June 2022 — The Stone & Chalk operated Scaleup Hub at Tech Central has strengthened its unique offering to emerging technology companies, launching its industry-first Ambassador Program. Each ambassador, hand selected by Stone & Chalk and Investment NSW following an extensive application process, is recognised for their deep industry experience and capacity to be champions and advocates for the growth of Scaleup Hub residents as well as the entire Tech Central precinct.

The ambassadors will champion the mission and vision of the Scaleup Hub and Tech Central advocating for innovation, technology and job creation for the precinct. All of the ambassadors are embedded within the innovation ecosystem across the country and share a common vision for the future of Australia.

In partnership with the NSW Government, Stone & Chalk has curated a scaleup ecosystem that extends well beyond physical infrastructure. Purpose-driven emerging technology companies will have access to a plethora of resources in the form of boundless industry networks and community leaders. With experience spanning a wide range of industries, each ambassador will  apply their resources to the Scaleup Hub to build a breeding ground for success, future proofing and diversifying the NSW innovation economy.

The new ambassadors are:

“Our Ambassadors are passionate about business, coming from startups or scaleups, with expertise ranging across various sectors including AI, cyber, digital health and more. They will help provide advocacy and feedback loops with government and industry to fuel our founders to their next phase of growth,” said Stone & Chalk Sydney General Manager Marie-Annie Lampotang. “We are on a mission to drive the NSW innovation engine and establish Australia as a global technology leader. The new Scaleup Hub ambassadors are an integral step forward to achieving this mission.”

With a background in commercial biotechnology and an Adjunct Associate Lecturer at the UNSW School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, Alinta Furnell, Co-Founder of Synbiote, is one of the first ambassadors to join the Scaleup Hub at Tech Central. “It’s such an exciting time to be in Sydney and working on technology changing the face of healthcare in Australia. I can’t wait to see firsthand all of the collaborations, possibilities, and innovation that will come out of The Scaleup Hub and wider Tech Central precinct.”

WAVIA Co-CEO, Christina Gerakiteys said on her appointment to the Ambassador Program: “I’m looking forward to working with this remarkable team to promote the possibilities of technology,  so we can solve the challenges we face as global citizens. By inspiring leaders to converge minds, technologies and fields, collectively we can have a cosmic impact on the world.”

“The Scaleup Hub ambassadors embody the community and values we want to embed within the precinct,” said Michael Bromley, CEO of Stone and Chalk Group. “Our program is made up of industry leaders and business experts willing to pay their expertise and generosity forward to the next generation of innovators. They recognise the potential to shift Australia towards a sustainable, tech-driven economy and the role Scaleup Hub at Tech Central will play in this journey.”
