2 July 2004 – LAWFUEL – DLA LLP banking partner Simon Woolley acted for Bank of Scotland Integrated and Acquisition Finance on the £665 million acquisition of The Telegraph Group by the Barclay brothers.

The deal sees the transfer of The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and The Spectator to the Barclay brothers.

Simon Woolly led the DLA team acting for funders, Bank if Scotland and was assisted by banking associate Matthew Christmas and corporate partner Jonathan Watkins.
DLA has acted for Bank of Scotland on several deals, including the £915 million Littlewoods acquisitions by the Barclay brothers and the £955 million public to private buyout of Arcadia Group plc by Philip Green.

Commenting on the deal, Simon Woolley said:
“This was an extremely interesting deal to be involved with – there were many twists and turns and high drama right to the end. It was a fantastic team performance on a nationally important and complex deal.”
