Trump, His Lawyer and The Beauty Queen Brouhaha

Donald Trump’s lawyer – well, one of them anyway – is in the line of fire for a comment he made about the legality of marital rape, as well as comments relating to destroying a beauty queen.

Not a great look for the Trump Camp, but for Michael Cohen, who was interviewed by the Daily Beast, his reportedly “gleeful” reminiscences regarding ruining Miss Pennsylvania Sheena Monnin who had suggested the Miss USA campaign was rigged, has come back to bite him in the backside.

Ms Monnin was sued by Trump and her father claimed she was bullied by Cohen.

Do you want to destroy your life? It’s going to be my privilege to serve it to you on a silver platter like I did that idiot from Pennsylvania in Miss USA, because I think you’re dumber than she is,’ Cohen allegedly told the reporter.
‘Sheena Monnin, another one that wanted to defame Mr. Trump and ended up with a $5 million judgment. That’s going to be nothing compared to what I do to you.’
According to The Daily Beast, Monnin stepped down from Miss USA in August and wrote a Facebook status accusing the competition of being ‘rigged’.

A fellow contestant reportedly showed her a list of the five finalists before they were called – and, as it happened, those five girls appeared on stage.

‘In good conscience I can no longer be affiliated in any way with an organization I consider to be fraudulent, lacking in morals, inconsistent, and in many ways trashy.’
In her resignation email she also cited the organization’s choice to include transgender contestants to compete – which, she said, ‘goes against ever moral fiber of my being’.

Trump sued Monnin for $5 million for sullying the competition’s name, and went on Good Morning America to say: ‘She lost and she’s angry about losing. And frankly, in my opinion, I saw her barely a second and she didn’t deserve to be in the top 15.’
Cohen then took on the personal role of intimidating Monnin, according to The Daily Beast.

He called her father Phillip, who represented her until she found a lawyer, and delivered bitter threats.

Cohen subsequently apologized through a statement to CNN: ‘In my moment of shock and anger, I made an inarticulate comment – which I do not believe – and which I apologize for entirely.

‘As an attorney, husband and father there are many injustices that offend me but nothing more than charges of rape or racism. They hit me at my core

‘Rarely am I surprised by the press, but the gall of this particular reporter to make such a reprehensible and false allegation against Mr Trump truly stunned me.’
