1 November – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Linklaters has advised Vodafone on its £820 million purchase of a ten per cent stake in India’s leading mobile telecommunications operator Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd (BTVL).
The deal, which was announced on 28 October 2005, involved Vodafone agreeing to acquire a 4.39 per cent economic interest in BTVL through Bharti Enterprises Private Limited, and a 5.61 per cent direct interest in BTVL from Warburg Pincus LLC. Vodafone will have the right to appoint two directors to the board of BTVL, the listed company.
The Linklaters team was led by corporate partner Clodagh Hayes. Other members of the team included Nicola Mayo, Kunal Thakore, Sam Smart, Sandeep Katwala, Iain Fenn, Dominic Markham, Ian McMahon and Joanna Corr.
Other advisers included Crawford Bayley, Indian advisers to Vodafone.
