Firm’s Partnering for Pro Bono Campaign Wins Second LMA Award This Year
NEW ORLEANS (LAWFUEL) – The Marketing Department of Adams and Reese LLP captured four overall SELMA awards, including three first-place awards and one second-place honor, announced at the 2008 Legal Marketing Association Southeastern Chapter’s Annual Conference, held Sept. 17-19 at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans.
The firm was recognized in the following categories:
– 1st Place Public/Media Relations -“Partnering for Pro Bono Campaign – Update”
The firm’s submission followed the first year of Louisiana Appleseed into its second year and was combined with the success of Adams and Reese’s pro bono legal efforts through Louisiana Appleseed. The partnership was further backed by the firm’s decision to be at the forefront of pro bono community service by requiring all attorneys to do at least 10 hours of pro bono service in 2007 increasing to 20 hours per attorney in 2008. The tracked media coverage valued at over $500,000 also impressed the judges.
– 1st Place Direct Mail Invitation – “Houston Rodeo Invitation”
This invitation was designed in-house and mailed to key clients for the firm’s annual Houston Rodeo client event. It was “cowhide” themed and the actual invitation was printed on a bandana and mailed in matching cowhide packaging. The same artwork was applied to our event nametags, decor, etc.
– 1st Place Promotional Item – “Endless Summer Retreat Swag Bag”
This entry was the collection of logo items the firm distributed to Partners at the firm’s annual retreat which followed the beach theme and included logo flip flops, beach towel, sunglass holder, golf shirt, etc. as well as the firm’s face book, retreat schedule, property map, name tags.
– 2nd Place Business Development Initiative
“New Orleans/Baton Rouge Cross-Marketing”. The joint initiatives of our New Orleans and Baton Rouge offices by the New Orleans/Baton Rouge Business Development Team, was recognized for its targeting and pursuit of more business opportunities and leads in our region as the south Louisiana market develops into a “regional” market. The team’s success is also demonstrated by the fact that the initiative is now being used as a model for the newly created Birmingham/Mobile Business Development Team.
The Southeastern Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association consists of more than 400 members in 10 states through the Southeastern U.S., making it the largest LMA chapter in the country.
This is the second LMA honor this year for Adams and Reese’s “Partnering for Pro Bono Campaign,” which received first-place honors in the Community Relations category at the LMA National Conference, held in Los Angeles, CA, in March.
The pro bono project was designed in 2006 to fill a void in legal services for low-income and hurricane-distressed families. To maximize its impact on the inhabitants of the areas, Adams and Reese partnered with client ConocoPhillips and National Appleseed, a nonprofit organization that works to advance pro bono efforts focused on changing policy in the legal arena, and Adams and Reese named New Orleans Partner Christy Kane, Executive Director of Louisiana Appleseed.
The organization is in its second year under Kane’s leadership, and Louisiana Appleseed has enlisted more than 50 volunteer attorneys working on a multitude of legal services such as: Access to Financial Services, Teacher Recruitment and Retention, Mental Health Handbooks, Access to Community Colleges, Title-clearing ‘Road Home’ Project, and Heir Property Project. Adams and Reese further supported the partnership by requiring pro bono work of 10 hours or more per attorney in 2007 totaling more than 5,800, with the pledge to double the required pro bono hours this year to 20 hours per attorney.
