May 11, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP today announced that Francis Feeney has joined the firm’s Corporate and Securities practice group as a partner in the firm’s Boston office. Feeney formerly was a partner at Nixon Peabody. Michelle Paterniti, a corporate associate, has also joined the firm from Nixon Peabody.

His experience representing early stage to public technology-based companies across the U.S. will also be a great complement to the private equity fund formation group that recently joined our office.”
DLA Piper’s U.S. Corporate and Securities practice consists of more than 250 lawyers experienced at representing clients pursuing sophisticated transactions. With the addition of Feeney and Paterniti, the Boston office includes 13 corporate lawyers and two senior business tax lawyers.
Feeney’s experience includes mergers and acquisitions involving both public and private companies, recapitalizations and leveraged buy-outs, IPOs and follow-on public offerings, Sarbanes-Oxley and corporate governance matters, private placements of equity and debt, including PIPEs, Rule 144A financings and venture capital investments, going-private transactions, tender offers, proxy contests, shareholder rights plans, representing special committees of Boards of Directors, strategic alliances, licensing and other technology matters.
Feeney served as issuer’s counsel for the top performing U.S. IPO for 2004 and seller’s counsel for the ninth largest U.S. M&A transaction for 2000.
Feeney joined Hutchins, Wheeler & Dittmar as a partner in 1991, serving on its management committee from 1998 until 2002 when the firm merged with Nixon Peabody.
Feeney received a J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University and a B.S., summa cum laude, from Northeastern University.
