WASHINGTON — June 10, 2013 — Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce it has added former federal prosecutor Laura Colombell Marshall as a partner in Richmond. Marshall was a senior member of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia for more than 14 years. Marshall will focus on investigations, regulatory and civil enforcement and white-collar criminal defense.
“We welcome Laura to our white-collar practice,” said Wally Martinez, firm managing partner. “With her enforcement experience and insights as a federal prosecutor, Laura will provide outstanding representation to our clients who may be subjects of investigations or enforcement actions.”
At the U.S. Attorney’s office, Marshall prosecuted cases involving investment fraud, health-care fraud, and organized crime, and led highly successful task forces targeting identity theft and money laundering. For the past four years, she was assigned to the Monetary Penalties Unit responsible for civil and criminal asset forfeiture and recovery.
“I am honored to join a team of outstanding attorneys, and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the white collar practice,” Marshall said.
Hunton & Williams’ white collar defense and internal investigations team handles corporate criminal defense and government enforcement litigation worldwide. The team represents clients in jury and criminal investigations and prosecutions, in parallel civil enforcement proceedings and in related third-party proceedings. Lawyers work with in-house counsel in developing effective programs for protecting companies against significant exposure from costly litigation.
An undergraduate of the University of Virginia, Marshall received her law degree from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
