BALTIMORE, MD – January 24, 2012 The law firm Ober|Kaler announced today that it has added three associates to its ranks. Abigail L. Baker joins Ober|Kaler’s Business Group, Amy E. Garber joins the Litigation Group, and Aaron Rabinowitz joins the Health Law Group.
Abigail L. Baker is resident in Ober|Kaler’s Baltimore office where she is a member of the business practice. Ms. Baker focuses on general corporate and securities matters, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity and venture capital financings. Most recently she advised an air cargo company on a major restructuring and represented a quantitative investment management company in the sale of interests to a major bank.
Prior to joining Ober|Kaler, Ms. Baker was a senior associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP and an associate at McGuireWoods LLP.
She is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law (JD, magna cum laude, 2005) and James Madison University (BS, 2002).
Amy E. Garber practices in the firm’s Washington, DC office and handles general and commercial litigation and arbitration. She most recently served as second chair in a lengthy arbitration involving complex government contract issues. She has dealt with insurance matters, including insurance settlement issues, and has worked on the defense of multi-plaintiff tort litigation. She is also experienced in environmental law and products liability matters, especially those involving design defect suits and class actions.
Before joining Ober|Kaler, Ms. Garber served as Senior Staff Attorney for the DC Bar’s Board on Professional Responsibility. Prior to that, she was an associate with Howrey, LLP of Washington, DC; Research Assistant to Professor Faust F. Rossi of Cornell Law School; and a law clerk at The George Washington University Office of the Vice President and General Counsel.
Ms. Garber is a graduate of Cornell Law School (JD, 2008), where she served on the staff of the Cornell International Law Journal, and The George Washington University Elliot School of International Affairs (B.A., with honors, 2005).
Aaron Rabinowitz is resident in the firm’s Baltimore office and focuses his practice on health law. He counsels health care providers on regulatory compliance issues, licensing laws, professional standards of care and corporate practice of medicine issues.
Mr. Rabinowitz has been with Ober|Kaler since January 2011, when he joined the firm’s health law practice as a law clerk. Prior to that, he was an antitrust economic consultant at a global consulting firm, where he conducted economic analyses for antitrust litigation, including alleged price fixing disputes in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.
Mr. Rabinowitz holds degrees from Harvard Law School (JD, 2011), the National University of Ireland, Galway (MA in Economics, 2006) and Haverford College (BA, 2003). He is completing a PhD in Health Policy at Harvard University and has drafted white papers on the politics of health care reform for Harvard Medical School.
