WASHINGTON, DC – January 29, 2010 The law firm Ober|Kaler announced today that Anthony J. Burba has joined the firm’s White Collar Defense and Health Law Groups in the Washington, D.C. office.
Mr. Burba’s practice centers on the defense of health care industry clients in criminal and civil enforcement actions and fraud and abuse matters. He was previously a Special Trial Attorney in the Justice Department’s Fraud Section where he was assigned to the Medicare Fraud Strike Forces in Texas and Florida. While working with the Medicare Strike Forces, he assisted in the investigation and prosecution of numerous fraud cases, including matters involving durable medical equipment companies and HIV infusion clinics. Prior to that, Mr. Burba was with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he was appointed a Presidential Management Fellow in 2008. While in law school, he worked as a law clerk for the Commonwealth Attorney’s office in Bardstown, Kentucky, where he assisted in the prosecution of state felony cases.
Mr. Burba is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law (J.D., Order of the Coif, 2008), Marquette University (M.A., 2005) and Murray State University (B.A., summa cum laude, 2003).
A native of Bardstown, he now resides in Alexandria, Virginia.
