US Legal News – Morrison & Foerster Adds Leading Securitization and Covered Bond Expert to New York Office

New York, July 8, 2009 – – Morrison & Foerster LLP today announced that Jerry Marlatt has joined the firm’s Capital Markets group. Mr. Marlatt is a recognized securitization lawyer and one of the leading experts in covered bonds.

Mr. Marlatt, formerly with Clifford Chance LLP, focuses on a broad array of structured capital markets transactions, including covered bonds, surplus notes and structuring specialized investment and operating vehicles, securities repackagings and public and private offerings of asset-backed securities, structured debt securities, commercial paper and other innovative financial products. Mr. Marlatt advised the dealers in connection with the first covered bond program by a U.S. depository institution (2006 Euromoney deal of the year) and has subsequently advised the issuer and dealers in connection with a number of covered bond programs for Canadian banks. Mr. Marlatt is an inaugural member of the Steering Committee of the U.S. Covered Bonds Council.
