The enquiry into allegations that there was misconduct on the part of Supreme Court justice Bill Wilson has started with an interview with the principal figure in the claims against the judge, Nelson lawyer Sue Grey.
Ms Grey was interviewed recently by the Judicial Conduct Commissioner David Gascoigne and the man he has seconded to assist in the delicate enquiry, former Australian Chief Justice Murray Gleeson.
It is understood that the interview with Ms Grey was wide ranging with no restriction placed on either questions or answers by the two men. The enquiry has massive ramifications because it holds the potential for the judge to be removed from office for misconduct, the first such time in New Zealand history.
