Regulatory and Compliance lawyer Joins Mayer Brown

Washington DC, 2 June 2017 – Mayer Brown announced today that Nicolette Kost De Sevres has joined the firm in Washington DC as a partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. Previously, Ms. Kost De Sevres was a senior policy advisor at DLA Piper, where she served as co-head of that firm’s US Financial and Technology (Fintech) Compliance practice.

With 17 years of experience as an attorney in the corporate and financial regulatory sector, Ms. Kost De Sevres has practiced in London, Paris, Sydney and Montreal. She has several years of in-house experience, including service as special senior counsel in the New York Stock Exchange’s Paris office and as senior special counsel at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London, where she advised on regulatory reforms and the implementation of new regulatory requirements. Ms. Kost De Sevres also acted as chief of staff and special advisor to the president of the financial markets regulator in Montreal.

In addition to her expertise in cross-jurisdictional compliance matters, Ms. Kost De Sevres represents global banks, exchanges, trading firms and companies in relation to compliance, regulatory obligations, derivatives and securities law, ISDA issues, reporting and cross-border issues, including Dodd-Frank, MiFID, EMIR, AIFMD, BASEL, BRDD, AML, KYC, fintech regulation, blockchain and DLTs, Loi Sapin II and ongoing international financial regulatory reforms. She regularly appears before regulators in Canada, Europe and the US, including ESMA, the FCA, the AMF, the ACPR, the CFTC, the CFPB, FINRA and the SEC.

Ms. Kost De Sevres serves on several boards, including the American Chamber of Commerce in France. She is a sought-after writer and speaker on international financial markets and the effects of regulation financial systemic risk, derivatives, high frequency trading and the legal framework of European financial markets. Notably, she is the author of International Economic Law, an in-depth guide and analysis of international economic laws and institutions and an author of a recent guide on the regulation of blockchain.
